Stop having low thoughts about God!

Do you really believe in God’s goodness and power? Or do you think God is just as weak as you?

Stop having low thoughts about God!

We should have low thoughts about ourselves, but great thoughts about God and what He can do in us! He is a very great and good and powerful Master! He can do something amazing, even in very weak people like us.

Stop having low thoughts about God!

You are making a terrible mistake when you think it is humble to believe that God can’t do much in and through you. Then you think God is just like you. Instead of having low thoughts about yourself, you have low thoughts about God - which is totally different from being humble!

If we had to try on our own to become exactly like Jesus, it would be absolutely right to think that it’s impossible. But to try on our own is a very big mistake! It is He Himself-the great and good Master-who will and can change us.

“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.” Psalm 37:5 (NIV). “The One who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.” 1 Thessalonians 5:24 (NIV).

Believe that God is as good as He really is!

We can say that the most difficult thing of all is to believe that God is as good as He really is. We have no problem believing that God is good and that He forgives us our sins. But to believe that He is so very good that He will let us share in His own godly nature, that He will make us overcomers over every sin we can think of, and also that He will use us and entrust us with great things - this is very difficult to believe.

But what should we do? We should believe what the Bible says! Believe all the promises that are written there! For example:

Colossians 1:28 (NKJV): “Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 1:6 (GNT): “And so I am sure that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it on until it is finished on the Day of Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 2:15 (GW): “Then you will be blameless and innocent. You will be God's children without any faults among people who are crooked and corrupt. You will shine like stars among them in the world.”

Philippians 4:13 (GNT): “I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gives me.”

Ephesians 3:19-20 (GNT): “…that you may be completely filled with the very nature of God.”

Let us read this last verse again: “…that you may be completely filled with the very nature of God.” Yes, who believes that God can and will do such great things? Do you think that it is proud to believe that God can give us human beings His own nature? In other words, do you think that having great thoughts about God’s goodness and His power is being proud? Or maybe you think that having low thoughts about what God can do in you is being humble?

No, then you are getting it all mixed up. Then you are thinking that God is just like you – weak and powerless. You should change this way of thinking!
