Did you know that Jesus’ life can become your life?

Jesus is the life

Jesus answered, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me.” John 14:6 (NCV).

Before the world began, there was the Word. The Word was with God, and the Word was God … In him there was life. That life was light for the people of the world … The Word became a man and lived among us …” John 1:1,4,14 (ICB).

The Spirit is the one who gives life! Human strength can do nothing. The words that I have spoken to you are from that life-giving Spirit.” John 6:63 -(CEV).

But Simon Peter answered Him, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.’” John 6:68.

Obey His commandments

If we want the life that was in Jesus to become our life, then we need to obey the words of life. We need to obey His commandments. “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” John 14:15 (GNB). What Jesus wanted was that the life He lived should also become our life. We should everyday say no to our sinful desires and follow Him. (Luke 9:23, GNT.) That is what will lead us to eternal life.

Those whom God had already chosen He also set apart to become like His Son, so that the Son would be the first among many believers.” Romans 8:29 (GNT). This means that there should be many people who obey His commandments and in that way become like Him. It’s a choice that we make. Choosing to do the good brings life and blessing! (Deuteronomy 30:15,19.) But to do this, we must know God’s word. “… give attention to reading… Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them …” 1 Timothy 4:13,15.

The life of Christ in us

Let the Spirit direct your lives, and you will not satisfy the desires of the human nature. … The Spirit has given us life; he must also control our lives.” Galatians 5:16,25 (GNT). Here we can see the way to life. When we obey Jesus’ commandments, we won’t give in to the desires of our sinful human nature, and in that way we will overcome them. We must “fight the good fight along with all other believers. Take hold of eternal life. You were chosen for it when you openly told others what you believe. Many witnesses heard you.” 1 Timothy 6:12 (NIRV). To fight this good fight God gives us the Holy Spirit to show us the sin that we need to overcome, and to give us the power to  overcome it.

Then the life of Christ will be seen in us. (2 Corinthians 4:10, NLT.) We become ambassadors of His life; we live in a way that brings Him praise, and we shall become pure as He is pure – we shall become like Him! (1 John 3:1-3.)

Praise Jesus who came down to earth to show us the way to live, so that we could have life in all its fullness, eternal life.  (John 10:10, GNB.) Living this way gives us a life that is so much more than anything we could experience here on this earth. We already start to taste and experience eternal life while we are here – the blessed fruits of the Spirit.
