Africa's Drummer Boy

It's not certain who wrote the "Little Drummer Boy" song. It is believed that it was Katherine K. Davis who did it in 1941. The song lyrics are said to be based on an old Czech carol. Our African version of the song was inspired by the prophesy about Jesus’ birth as King (Isaiah 9:6–7) and a version of the song by For King & Country. Our African version was produced and performed by the BCC Africa Choir.

In the film, Teboho read about the birth of Jesus and the wise men who brought gold, frankincense, and myrrh to honour Jesus. Christmas is a time to give, just as God gave His Son to us. Teboho’s sister is cutting out paper-dolls as gifts to be handed out to her family. “What can I do,” Teboho thought, “I am just a poor little boy.” Then his grandmother dropped an empty coffee tin on the floor, and that gave him an idea! “I will play this ‘drum’ to honour King Jesus! And also to bless my family at Christmas!” The song, drums and effects reflect the excitement in Teboho’s heart!
