Women in Christ
We have all read in the Bible about women who are examples of what can be achieved when we give our lives into God’s hands. Women who show that a life lived according to the word of God is a life that leads to true happiness, joy, peace, and rest. A life that is rich and interesting. A life that has overcome difficulties, pushed boundaries, set standards, dealt with pain and hardships, and always overcame in Christ. (2 Corinthians 2:14.) These women were spiritual leaders, mothers, sisters, grandmothers, aunts, friends, etc.
By the grace of God over our lives, we can all become women in Christ.
It doesn’t matter what your situation is, if you are at home, among friends, or at work, as a Christian woman your opportunities are endless within God’s will for you. But we must not force our own ideas about what we want to achieve. Instead, we must find God’s will, and use all of our energy and time fighting that His will is done on earth as it is in heaven, through our lives. (Matthew 6:10.)
Seek the wisdom that comes from above
There are many things we could fight for and become busy with, and there are many times when unrighteousness should be overcome - in our personal lives, at work, or at school. We need wisdom to do this in the right way. If we just say and do what we ourselves think is right, we will not do righteousness. (James 1:19-20.) If we want to help, then we need to seek the wisdom that comes from above.
“But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.” James 3:17 (NLT).
God has a different task for every woman. Whatever it is, we should do it in humility and wisdom. We should not be proud and think we know better, but whatever we do, we should do it because we believe that these are the things God is asking of us.
Wisdom is to “find your life and lose it”. (Matthew 10:39.) That means that in every situation I should say No to any reaction from my sinful nature, and do God’s will instead. Then we can start to see situations as God does, not as our human understanding sees it. We find the wisdom we need by seeking God, and not seeking our own.
“Better to have wisdom than weapons of war, but one sinner can destroy much that is good." Ecclesiastes 9:18 (NLT).
“Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, and the strength of salvation; the fear of the Lord is His treasure.” Isaiah 33:6.
Christianity based on the Word of God
Christianity that is based on the Word of God, and not on man-made ideas, leads to true justice, where there is no discrimination. Christianity should show the goodness of Christ, the fruits of the Spirit. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23.) It does not matter who you are; if you want to get a life where you grow in these fruits of the Spirit, then your life will be an example of righteousness.
If a Christian has the fruit of the Spirit as the standard for their life, they won’t be hateful, abusive and proud, and they won’t oppress any human being. Christianity gives me confidence, as we read in Philippians 4:13 where it says that I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength; it gives me power and helps me that I won’t let myself be oppressed.
No one has been perfected in these fruits of the Spirit, but we should be able to say together with Paul: “I do not mean that I am already as God wants me to be. I have not yet reached that goal, but I continue trying to reach it and to make it mine. Christ wants me to do that, which is the reason he made me his.” Philippians 3:12 (NCV). That is the goal of a disciple of Christ.
If the whole world gave themselves for this true Christianity, then all of the problems of the world like inequality, abuse, discrimination, hatred, etc. would be solved.
So here is the task for each of us! Fight, first of all in our own life and circumstances, for everything the kingdom of heaven stands for: righteousness, love, respect, peace, joy, etc. Be a light in a dark world and show what the power of God can do through people who do His will. Let us be women in Christ!
