Divine (godly) nature

God’s nature, or divine (godly) nature, is perfectly pure and cannot be tempted by evil. We are promised that divine nature can become part of us by fleeing (running away from) the corruption in the world that comes through our evil desires. As we step by step overcome our sinful human nature it is replaced by godly nature – God shares His own nature with us. As our natural sinful reactions to the situations we meet in life are overcome, the “works of the flesh” such as jealousy, pride, hate, and selfishness are replaced by the “fruit of the Spirit” (Galatians 5:19-23). In other words, reacting with love, humility, goodness, joy, etc. becomes our nature. This is what it means that godly nature can become part of us. This is also called sanctification. (2 Peter 1:2-4; 1 John 3:2-3; James 1:13; Galatians 5.)
